all i could find on msdn was that it uses the "system default proxy" i couldnt find out where this is stored/set.
what browser are you using? if its not IE try checking the proxy settings in IE and setting them to the correct ones. |
Thanks Quib, That worked :) :) :) :)
|
now here is an odd thing, i changed it from the FQDN of my firewall/proxy to its IP address (The FQDN resolved the to the very same IP address).
Something odd on my system i guess :D |
No Glowing Trail
I love these maps! You guys have done an excellent job! And the speed with which you repspond to people's comments and questions is amazing!
But the comment below was posted by me on the 18th and there hasn't been the slightest response. Quote:
Any help is appreciated. |

try clicking the POI then closing the window with the M key.
I think the reason it happens is because you are hovering over antother POI when you go to close the map. |
Thanks Tony,
I'll give that a try... :) |
Hmmm, I've never seen this happen to me, but I do always use M to open and close...that might just be it.
|
I just tested the wisp trail "bug". If you click the X (upper right corner) to close the map window, it will remove the wisp trail. It does not matter what possition or placement of the map window. :(

wrong map: Condemned Catacombs
My guild was in CC tonight and, surprise! The map was of the Down Below!
|
Yes Florence We are currently having an issue with a few zones such as this. The problem is that SOE used the same maps, just blocked them off in a couple areas. To go along with this and make things harder for us, they used to same map reference name as the original maps zone, so we're trying to figure out how to use a different map even though SOE is telling the game to use the down below map. We will get it. I think Quib's been working hard on this one.
|
I'm working on CC/Down Below and Gobblerocks Hideout/Serpent Sewer. Should have it automatically loading the two properly soon. Luckily, SOE turned on the translucent fog for CC and GH so I'm using that as a true/false to get the correct POIs to show.
As for the wisp trail bug involving closing the window: I'm looking into it and may have a fix. I'll keep everyone posted. Quib |

Well, I imagine you'd do pretty well. Managing the website and/or mapping is way tougher than nailing down quirky little UI XML bugs. I'm just greasing the joints for this complex machine called EQ2MAP.
I think I've fixed the CC and GH POI issue. POIs should be working properly again in Serpent Sewer and The Down Below. Going to Gobblerocks Hideout and CC to make sure I have them loading correctly. Taking screenshots of various zone's POIs along to way so we can get that alignment issue taken care of. Quib |
Got a nifty something to maybe keep an eye out for. It is NOT a breaking issue at all...
Was in The Down Below with a baby toon o mine when I got ran over... When I revived near the Baubleshire zone in Down Below, my map lost all POI's... zoned over and back and was fixed but I thought I would let someone know just in case :) -Selae |
I'm working on it Selae. I'm trying to get 2 different POI sets automatically loading for that map, and they're being difficult.
EDIT: 99% sure this is fixed now. Posting in another thread to get people to go test and double-check for me. Quib |
HTTP protocol violation
I'm getting these errors when downloading DDS files:
The underlying connection was closed: The server committed an HTTP protocol violation. File: map_fprt_sewer03_2.dds The underlying connection was closed: The server committed an HTTP protocol violation. File: map_mod01_dun_tombs_of_night_0.dds The underlying connection was closed: The server committed an HTTP protocol violation. File: map_mod01_dun_tombs_of_night_1.dds The underlying connection was closed: The server committed an HTTP protocol violation. File: map_mod01_dun_tombs_of_night_2.dds I'm behind a transparent proxy, but I tried to download these files manually using wget and it worked fine (I verified the md5 checksum). Thanks for a great addin! Jeorat, Unrest server |
i dont know what to tell you other than that people tend to have problems using the updater when they are behind proxys. i wish i could be of more help  see waht happens if oyu dont use the proxy.

bug report
having an issue as of about 10 mins ago - ran the updater before logging in, and once in game found the TS map to be slid down and to the right of the frame - I deleted and did a fresh install/update to make sure it wasn't something I'd done, and its still off by about an inch x and y
if it matters I'm using the mook mod with it - could be a problem there, havent verified that yet - just thought I'd let you know |
not too sure if this is the right place for this post... but i was just in runnyeye and the map seemed to have a tunnel missing. here is a screenshot of it. im sorry i cant provide any further details as i only noticed it 5 mins before the servers went down.

:( Problem I have is that after I installed and updated the map inteface (I restarted game also to make sure) and well now my in game "mail" box (norathian express) comes up as a black rectangle. I can't see anything in it.
Looks like he map over wrote something but I dont know how to fix it. |
its not from eq2map, but from another mod you have that uses eq2ui_mainhud.xml. delete that file from your custom directory, it will break whatever mod uses it so check the download comments or help thread back on the mod that it breaks to see if the author has posted a fix.

=\
how do i update the eq2map if i run windows xp 64? the updater isnt working for me in xp 64

I'm posting my problem here as a last ditch effort to get this amazing program working, because simply, this has me stumped (and i've been working with computers for a looong time)
The Microsoft 1.1 Framework (dotnetfx.exe) doesnt seem to install, and if it does, it definitely is not working. It makes it to "Preparing to install.." but then during the Microsoft .NET 1.1 Configuration, the stage right before the installation screen typically, it closes itself out completely. Ive tried reinstalling the Internet Explorer service pack 1, which originally included this if im not mistaken, and it says I am already running a newer version (which I thought to be true in the first place) So can anyone tell me what the heck is going on? Thanks in advance :nana: -The Grubermeister PS- Im having the same unhandled exception error as a previous poster, but it seems as if their issue was resolved by your advice (unlike mine, heh, ive tried everything) Application has generated an execption that could not be handled. Process id=0x40c (1036), Thread id=0x41c (1052) Click ok to terminate the application. Click Cancle to debug the application. When i attempt to debug i get a message saying: Registered JIT Debugger is not available. An attempt to launch a JIT debugger with the following command resulted in an error code of 0x2(2). cordbg.exe !a 0x40c Any help would be appreciated, re-downloading and installing the autoupdater program did not fix the problem for me. |
do you have a 64 bit processor, and you using windows xp 64 bit edition?

Edit: Is there anyway you could run an installation of Microsoft .net Framework 1.1? Mine always goes awry at "gathering required information" during configuration. I just wanna know if this is the typical spot for the installation to be complete, or if something is going wrong there. Thanks =) |
because of microsoft's...intelligence...if the install to the .net framework fails it usually wont work when you try and re-install it again and you have to manually remove it and then try again. im not sure if this is the problem, but its possible. here is a link http://support.microsoft.com/default...b;en-us;320112 on microsofts msdn site that explains how to remove it, however it involves editing the registry and deleting files in your system folder so if you are uncomftorble about doing this then dont, the last thing you want is a messed up windows installation.
if you are uncomfortable doing that than the other thing you could try instead is installing the 2.0 beta version of the .net framework. which can be found on microsofts site at this page http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/d...DisplayLang=en |
I went with the installation of beta 2.0 first, and the results were dissapointing... same exact problem.
I have had this issue with another program that required Microsoft .net Framework 1.1, so thats gotta be where the issue lies no doubt. Im going to clean EQ2MAP as well as the other program clear off my PC, remove all traces of Microsoft .net Framework (as much as I can) and then try it all over again. |
good luck :) and i hope you can get it to work!
|
I did most everything that Microsoft website said, the exception being the whole SWK/SW something deal which would of taken up like 300mb, and I was able to successfully install v 1.1, but I now get this.
C:/WINDOWS/Microsoft.NET/Framework/v1.1.4322/mscorwks.dll could not be loaded. I wonder if I could find that .dll somewhere? |
you can try getting it from http://www.dll-files.com/dllindex/dl...shtml?mscorwks
I have not virus scanned it or anything, all i did was check and make sure it was labeled for the right version of .net that you have. however it sounds like it didnt install the framework all the way, but getting that file is certainly worth a shot. |
Eh, it's no good. I'll try a few more things tommorow, but it seems like nothing short of reformatting is going to ultimately fix this problem, Microsoft just messed this one up badly. Thanks again for all the help, and im determined to get this working... so i'll keep you updated, heheh.

I've recently tried launching EQ2 map program, and this came up
Error Getting File List: The underlying connection was closed: Unable to connect to the remote server. How do I fix this???? |
make sure you set your firewall to allow it to access the internet (that is how it downloads the updates) as well as make it allowing .xml files if your firewall has filetype restrictions.
|
How to use the maps in game?
I have done the installation and the updater works fine, but when I go in game, I don't see any maps after I zone. Typing 'M' gives me the old map. Please advise.
|
can you try renaming your eq2.ini file that is in your everquest directory to something else (to keep as a backup) and if you have an EQ2MAP directory in you everquest ii\ui\ directory renaming it as well, and then running the updater. it will redownload all the filesfor it and create a new eq2.ini file for you. if that fixes it either one of the other ui mods you have was messing it up or a file the updater got was corrupt (which isnt likely because it uses an md5 check on almost all the files and redownloads any that dont match)
once you are done testing you can get rid of the files and folders you made and put your old ones back. |
It didn't fix it. The eq2.ini got created as well as a new EQ2MAP folder like the previous time. It is not a problem with other UI modifications because I use the plain vanilla UI. Is there a way to type a command to "launch" your map interface from within the game?
|
its just whatever key you set the map key to (default is m) could you attach a screenshot of what it looks like so i can tell what is wrong?
