OK, I guess I deserve to be slapped for not reading your install directions and the note about those of us with non-US games... my bad. I'll try the work arround and see how that works out for me

Just gonna go back to older version for now
Well, I can't seem to make it work :-/ I tried adding a file called everquest2.exe, but it won't let me, cuz it says I already have one. I'll just keep looking back in for when you are able to work arround whatever is causing it not to install correctly and then try again, until then, I'm still very happy with version 2.2, so I'll stick with it.

I have a couple of questions about the wonderfull and highly detailed interface that you have created and continue to update. My first question is about the map updater, When is updates and finnishes it states that it has skipped 10 files....why and isn't the files needed for a reason? Second I have noticed that when the interface completes it states that alot of the accual interface files includeing some from the info part are forign and asks me to delete them...i don't but, why is this and is there something i should do? it does state that these files can cause some problems is there something i should worry about? oops that was a third question <giggle>. anything you could answer is great. thank you and keep up the wonderful work Grace37 |

To take a screen shot of your desktop just press the print screen key (prtscn) then go into some graphic/photo editing software such as mspaint and do edit->paste and it 'should' paste the snap shot there for you to save. |

I have the same problem with the installer like Bodhi.
(Adress Violation) I live in Germany but thats not the problem, I think. On the last Update the updater loads the file "eXtremeUI_CP.tmp". After download and Mapupdate the updater want to be restart itself. But the window is still open and the updater have not the permissions to delete the eXtremeUI_CP.exe. After the crash I copy manually the eXtremeUI_CP.tmp to eXtremeUI_CP.exe and all Adress Violations will be gone. |

The files that are being reported as foreign in the map updater are just that. They are not part of the current UI structure. The updater checks all fines in its directory vs the directory on the server and reports any files that are not on the server. So if I remove or move any files it will report the old files on the local computer as foreign. In the case of the infocenter I moved that directory from the include directory to the UI's root directory. It is save to delete any file that the CP reports as foreign, UNLESS you have added or modded the UI. In that case you need to add them files to the exclude list. |

Sadly, I wasn't able to get you a screenshot :-/ But, as far as what's in the EverQuest II\LP_REGION_EN_US, it's looks like an exact copy of what is in the Everquest II directory. The only differences would be that in this file I have a Cache file and login files.

Just wanted to update you. I installed the newest with no problems, love the ui. I use one of the alternate backgrounds, and the updater changes it each time. Is there a way to set it to leave the background file alone?

the tip u gave me worked fine, but still got a bunch of problems... for better understanding i took a screenshot: its a bit larger Top Left: i installed the Char_Selector tool Top: Chat and Quest window, cant change the visibility, when i move my mouse over they are ok, but when my mouse is not there they look like the right window bottom: the group window makes the same like chat and quest window. What can i do? thanks |
blank completion log
when i click on the completed tab in my quest journal itdoesnt show the name of the quests that i have finished which makes it hard to see if you have done certain quests or not like access quests. what can i do to fix this problem. it lists the number of each type of quest i have finished just not the name or description of the quests i have finished.

Hi Landiin,
two more problems (see screenshots). The first cuts the name from the current location info. And always 3-4 chars from the longest word. The second one you can see the broker window. In the german version the information from the namefield was extremly to long and I can't see my inserts. |

Quik Log Help
Need help setting up the quick charac log, please. Enters character names and server doesn't work for me. I tried Help in the extreme control panel but only get a blank page. Any help will be appreciated.

thats the thing it doesnt list my completed quests it just lists the types of quests i have completed and when i click to expand the type of completed quest there isnt any quests listed under it

Thanks much Landiin. Save worked perfectly (embarassing as it is to say :o ). Now, one other small problem and I'm not sure it's the UI or what, but at random times, the rainbow colored hp/mana bars turn a dark green and I have to reboot to get them to return to the right color. Is this maybe something with my graphics or something that I can do to fix it?

I get error everytime I try to use the control panel!
I get an internet page script error on the page that loads up then I get some xml button error as well. Id really like to try this out! I will try to get exact error messages if I have time! edit: I reinstalled again to try to get exact error messages and this time there was no script error on the webpage that loads up inside the control panel. The other error did appear again though and is as follows "A fatal error was encountered while accessing sb_buttoms.xml Cause: Possiblefile Corruption. ErrorCode: 202:203" after I hit okay, the CP exits. Is there something on my side that needs to corrected? I am new to EQ2 UIs so I am not exactly sure whats going on here. Any help would be appreciated as I would really like to check out your cool UI and all of your hard work! |

Arranging the windows
Okay so I haven't taken the time to read through all of the posts, but when I /loadui all of the windows come up shuffled around. Is there anyway to make it so that everything shows up like the screenshots? I play in 1280x1024.
Also most of the time when i /loadui the whole game crashes. |

I don't think it ever worked. What you need is the EQ2.ini file with the correct settings in it. open it in notepad and you should see cl_ui_skinname extreme cl_ui_subdir UI/ letterbox_frame_visible false cl_letter_box_amount 0.135000 window_allow_offscreen false only_show_fg_in_letterbox_area false When you start EQ2 after this, It should all work fine. Also, please note, I am not useing the latest version of eXtreme UI. I was reading through to try to find the changes. As the one I currently use works with KoS Hope this helps |

From what I have read thus far, The new eXtreme UI will be self updateing? Will this be the only way to do it from now on? Is there an easy updgrade for me? It takes me a bit to get everything dialed in, and you always have a new release when I finally have it the way I want it =P Could I just make backup copies of my ui settings for my toons then overwrite the new ones with those to keep it how it is? Or, has to much changed for that to be of use? Love the UI, love the support. Major thanks for the info you gave me on the guild logo awhile ago. worked great. Demeke, The default key for the inv is I. hit it and see what happens. DrShmoo, That was suppose to be eq2.ini, not EQ2.ini. sorry for the confusion. |
yeah. I found it after that post. The window I have now didnt look exactly like the one on the screenshot so I thought I was missing something, later thought that it might be a diff. version.

Yes from now on the only way to get the UI will be via the updater. If you already have the base files, then the update will not take long at all. The AU will not ever touch your uisettings file unless you go into advanced option and tell it to ( but it's always a good idea to back up ). |
I'm in the middle of recoding the updater, well not the middle almost done with the new one. The one we use now is the result of 2 or 3 projects of mine tossed together.
Here is a bit of history on it. Started out with the audio player; so I could play some tunes in the back ground with a small finger print player. ( media player or win amp would lag me in large areas or raids ). Then I made the Map updater because umm I could and not a big fan of .net. Then I though hey put the two together, so I merged the two projects and tossed in the quick log and notes and released it as the CP. I've always been asked to do an AU for eXtreme so I started to add that to the two merged project. When it was all done it was basically 3 or 4 solo projects added to one project. Which resulted in it not being stream lined and full of extra code to combine the 3 projects. So know that I know what the end result should do I've decided to rewrite it from the ground up knowing what the end result should do and with ways to expand it with out jumbling up the code. |
