Is there a way to keep my settings (where i put hotbars aand chat windows, etc) before I run update installer? Or must i have to redo everytime?

Yes you can use your current settings. Simply pick 'use your own settings' when the installer is on that step.

Are the writ and heritage tabs in journal no longer available ... i really miss these features

When I get time, I'll add them back in. But then you do have 50 notes you can edit and stick them in untill then.

I just downloaded this UI and am setting it up. This is wonderful! But, I couldn't figure out how to use other windows from different UI's with this one.

For example: I don't like the maintained window (prefer vertical and spell names/timers on side) and the target windows (too large and prefer vertical), for those I'd like to used someone elses, sorry :p Also couldn't figure out how to make the group window vertical.

Oh and the check buttoms when i'm changing setting are very very light, rather hard to tell what's checked and what isn't

You can use others maintained window just replace the file. But being the maintained effects are inbeded into the start button you'll still have them. ( start buttong = start button, maintained and player window all in one).

The group window can be sized or shaped its set in stone to fit that spot. You could use others if u wanted. Same for the target window.

The UI's windows are made to fit together and flow. You can replace them with other windows but as stated above some windows are inbetter in others and you will have 2 of them if you do this. So it may be best for you taste to use another UI.

Hey Landlin, first of all I LOVE the UI. I think the design is far better than anything else I've seen, to date, and I've been a loyal folower for months now...
I was reluctant to ask this question before, because I didn't want to look too stupid, but what the hell, I'm never going to meet any of you in RL anyway and besides... maybe there's someone else out there, exactly so un-tech-savy as me having this same problem too.
Everytime I un-install and re-install an newer version, when I run EQ2Maps, I have to download EVERYTHING all over again. This takes sometime (ok, not so much, but still an annoyance). So, my question is, which files would I have to copy and replace in order to advoid this in the future?

When you uninstall, don't uninstall eq2maps. It ask in one of the popups if you want to uninstall it. Just pres no and it will leave it in place.. Or should..

I have a 3rd chat window open and for some stupid reason I cant get the back drop to go transparent where I can still read the text ya know? I know what to do its been around 6 months or more I been using your UI but with your last 3 updates the backdrop wont go transparent.

Thought I'd tried that before, and tried it again this time... still had to download 130 + files... oh well, doesn't take all that long.

If you clicked no you should not have to redownload all the files. Verified that myself as I just updated ui. If you run map updater it will just verify files. No need to even do that.

btw still having problem w/ char select, don't matter if I do it in game or thru ui I still getting the problem w/ the color of the xp bar. GF's puter same prob too. Pain to have to restart game from desktop to correct. any input to resolve appreciated

Thats a known Sony issue that they don't seem to care about no matter how many bug reports gets thrown at it.

Not much we can do till it comes up on their bug radar screen. :(

I am also haveing a problem with the Charator Select screen on the logout window. I did a complete clean install and used the CP to add the names and servers. CP is AWESOME btw.

I know this must be a busy time for you and everyone, Landiin. Just wondering if there's an eta on fixing the group window labels. The F keys are off by one (ie, F1 is actually F2; F2 is actually F3, etc.) Thanks for all your hard work. A really nice UI.

What backdrop will not fade? The grayis/white one? The Text backdrop ( dark blue )?

Been working on the control panel and havn't realy touched the UI after 2.17.3. I have added a eq2map updater and working on a Audio player now. Just have to learn how to read a live log file to parse commands:/ I'll look at the this tonight.

The target window will not go transparent also. Implied target window does though.

Hey great UI. It's a hard choice between this one and Laff's. You both do exceptional work, should be proud and you have my complete gratitude.

If you don't mind can you please take a moment and either point me in the right direction or lend me a little hand. I have 3 questions.

1.) The timer on the maintained list at the bottom is great. How can I implement this for the effect's at the top?

2.) May I please remove the Guild Logo that show's up at startup and zoning. At present I'm not in a guild and this is rather annoying. Great idea though.

3.) Possibly a really, really dumb question but hey it's Christmas so cut me a little slack. Underneath the spell progress bar there is a black bar that is 1/4 of the way blue. What is this for? :)

Also I don't know if this is a bug or not but I can not move the bag that is in the last slot (even if I unlock the window).

Ok so I can answer question #3. thats actually ur breathing bar. It starts out at 1/4 filled when u log on...if u wanna get rid of the filled area just jump in the water for a sec and it resets 8)

1. I would love nothing more then to add this to the effect but sadly Sony hasn't provided that data ingame yet.

2. Yes, I am going to add an option in the control panel to toggle guild logos on and off.

3. Yes as sailgon said that is your breath. I realy ment to fix that but umm I didn't have it on the list for some reason and it thus didn't get it fixed.

How do you add guild logo anyway? I am in a guild but all it says on loading screen is "Guild Logo" Would love to take advantage o the feature, just not sure how hehe

You make create an 1024x256 image, add in you guild logo and save it as guildlogo.dds or guildlogo.tga in the eXtreme\image folder.

I use photoshop with the .dds plugin thats linked some where on this site. If I'm not mistaken even though the code says guildlogo.dds if it can't find it it'll look for guildlogo.tga also. .tga are more common and are suported by many image programs. So if photoshop isn't workalble for you try saveing it in .tga format. Just make sure its size is 1024x256.

I've installed many UI's in my day between eq1 and 2, but never kept a single one longer then a couple days, this one i must say, is definitly a keeper.

Having said that, there are is one thing to add to the list that im seeing: In the group window, the percentages are not updating, the bar is updating properly and so is the actual hp count of the group members, but it says 100% no matter what thier health is, not a big deal, but wasn't sure if you knew already.

A couple questions for some problems i think may be only on my end:

1. The harvest info window button is greyed out, this would be really cool if i could get it to work somehow, am i missing some files or it just not implemented yet?

2. HTML browser doesnt support basic or advanced layout technology it would seem, as i know this is hardly something you can control, i was wondering if there was anyway to open an IE or firefox window inside eq2 to fully support layout at the very least.

3. When im zoning the interface doesnt go away, is this supposed to happen?

4. In the chat box at the lower left, when i click the arrow to scroll the tabs right it doesnt let me scroll back left with the other button, so i ended up pulling off the loot tab and adding loot msgs to the main window, but i thought it may be an issue worth looking into for those of us who dont run at 1600x1200.

5. The map window is pretty jacked up, when i try to resize it to the smaller "portable" window its all black with no map data and i have run the eqmap updater as well as the eqmap updater included in your control panel and still no luck. Also it seems the player icon on the map loses accuracy sometimes, it shows the cursor a few "feet" off from where it really is, i can kind of fix it with resetting the window, but it would be cool if it was just working all the time like with the default map.

I think thats it for now, i'm sure i probably won't get a response for quite a while, only christmas grinches like me troll the boards and play eq2 during christmas time lol.

Pet Window bug.. the Follow button isn't working .. click it to my hearts content and my pet won't follow .. have to type in '/pet follow me' then it comes

1. Yes it is disabled atm, because I havn't had the time to put together a t1-t6 one again. Maybe someday I'll get all these things completed..
2. Sadly that is the best HTML browser we can have until Sony adds one that can follow W3 rule set.
3. Yes the interface is supose to stay on top allowing you to chat while zoning, for us that take for ever to zone lol. There will soon be an option in the conrol panel to set this on or off.
4. The chat tab seems to be an SOE issue. I have tried to defeat the bug but have yet to find a way. ( well I have but I think it creates more issues) Just resize the window to get it to pop back into place, untill SOE gets it fixed.
5. I didn't think I included a map window as new eq2map will be released soon so I seen no need to keep up with two version, so I didn't mod that window and let it default to the default map.

Any suggestion you may have just post em. I'll try my best to get them added.

Yes I make it where the pet will not follow, I don't have a pet and well lol j/k I'll add that to the known issues so I'll remember to get it fixed.

@Tuche: You mean the free place in the left corner? Thats simple, just klick on your chatwindow and say: Open new Chatwindow! (The Place is for the second chatwindow)

Changing Guild Logo
 

Ok i am using IrfanView to view the psd file. I edit the guildlogo_template and i save it as a .tga file. I then changed the file name to guildlogo, but now all I see is a black spot where something should be. I also deleted the old guildlogo.dds

I must need a plugin to make a .dds?

What am i doing wrong?
