It works like that for me.

The fog button is one of the reasons I love Zonx's modded EQ2MAP hehe =)

I noticed this map problem also. If you go and update your maps the next time you log in the points will work but if you zone they stop working again.

you need a "/" i.e. /show_window MainHUD.Map.FogCheckbox

BTW - I tried this in Silent City - still no tooltips with or without fog box checked :(

Hehe, then yes, I'm an idiot. Ok this command did bring up the Map Fog checkbox, but in Rivervale the tool tips for the POIs are not showing up both with the box checked and the box unchecked.

I'm logging out and back in to see if that allows the tooltips to show up.

Ok, I logged out, all the way to my desktop and ran the EQ2Map updater and launched the game. When I got back in, the Map Fog checkbox was gone. (patched it out I'm guessing). Tool tips still not working in Rivervale. I ran the command again to get the Map Fog box back and checked or unchecked the tooltips are not coming up.

Work around...

Ok there is what I discovered.

Just like they said above, use /show_window MainHUD.Map.FogCheckbox

then uncheck Mapfog

THEN....

Click on the World TAB Key to the Left and then back to current Zone for tooltips to work again.

I'm in Sol Eye helping my wife's Templar with Speak like a Dragon and thats how I got it working again.

Hope this helps.

Ok, I can confirm that this is working in Rivervale, tooltips are showing up for the POIs now. :)

playwfire 11-23-2006 08:27 PM

Yes, the Show Window Hud command worked well
Thank you very very much

anfrey 11-23-2006 09:47 PM

any way we could have this button permanently added to eq2map?

drazad 11-24-2006 11:58 AM

I confirm that this works in every zone I've tried so far - thanks for the work-round. The Tooltips are back - great :)

just set a macro /show_window MainHUD.Map.FogCheckbox

Uncheck Mapfog then click on the World TAB Key to the Left and then back to current Zone for tooltips to work again.

Another 100% successful work around

For those that use Zonx' awesome, one-of-a-kind Fetish Nightfall custom UI, use his EQ2Map hud that he provides with the UI package. If you don't use his UI, you have no idea what you are missing!

When using the Fetish Nightfall UI and you want to update EQ2Map, use the EQ2Map autoupdater, but do the following:

-Under Options, check off Ask to Overwrite MainHUD.Map, then click OK
-When running the EQ2Map autoupdater, it will now ask you each and every time if you would like to update the MainHUD.Map file, always click NO
-Now Zonx map hud has a nice addition to it where you can click fog on and off
-If you are on one of the maps people have been having problems with, click fog on then off once

This is the work around which my wife and I have been using since the expansion hit and has been 100% successful, all icons work!

Keep up the great work EQ2Map team and Zonx.........thank you for such fine additions to our beloved game!

Do we have any new info yet about the POI's?

Nope, no one from SOE has emailed me back yet. Sent 2 emails not sure if Zonx has heard anything back.

Its on SOE's end and I'm sure the fix is delayed due to Thanksgiving. Its not a critical bug either specially since you can type in the above command and it works.

Dutchhulk 11-26-2006 04:07 AM

Got all the above :-)

Noticed it only applies in instances and dungeons, normal world zones are good to me.. at least the ones i checked

Zegon 11-26-2006 11:02 AM

Tried using the fix on Vermin's Snye and, even after clicking the box, it doesn't work.

Ah, fixed it. I had to click on the world map and/or city zone tabs, then back to the dungeon tab after I had clicked on the fog dealie.

Dolby 11-26-2006 09:13 PM

Few posts deleted. Please dont hijack this thread.

This thread is about the poi tooltip not showing in some older zones. SOE has been informed its an issue on their end and I'm sure it will be fixed soon.

If you have problem different then this then check the FAQ's first and if after hours of searching you dont find a solution post a new thread with details of how you installed eq2map, where its installed, and what its doing or not doing.

Thanks :)

Add Runnyeye and Obelisk of Lost Souls

These areas also do not work properly.

No need for a list anymore. We know it's all old zones that didn't have a map that have had a custom one added. But thanks =)

Damagecat 11-30-2006 02:29 PM

nek castle

add nek castle to the list also please. Map is there, as is the poi's, but the poi's are not clickable.

/show_window MainHUD.Map.FogCheckbox

tried it, didnt work for me. I saw no box for fog. has this been ..delt with since the last post in November? or do you have to be in a special zone to do it to make it work in others? I was trying it in WC and CL and nothing happen.

Jhalad 12-06-2006 12:53 PM

Happening in Nek Castle as well, on all levels.

lordebon 12-06-2006 02:24 PM

The button should appear in the map window, on the upper right hand side. It should just be a checkbox.

Zonx 12-06-2006 03:19 PM

Folks, we apreciate the help but there really isn't any "List" being kept. Posting such and such zone has this problem is only making it harder for others to find the relevant info.

Let me summarize the problem and resolution for everyone.

There is a known bug on SOE's end affecting virtually every pre-KOS indoor zone. These zones were not designed to have maps to begin with so were never setup to include fog layer data. Previously the layer was disabled in those zones, so wasn't an issue for our custom maps and POIs.

As a result of changes made in the EOF expansion, an empty fog layer is now overlaying and blocking the custom POIs provided by EQ2Maps for these zones. This prevents clicking most POIs and icons on the map and disables tooltips for them.

This is not a problem we "The EQ2Maps team" can fix without causing other problems. SOE needs to change code on their end. SOE is already aware of the problem and do plan to fix it. Since its not a problem for any zones with an "official" map, it may not be a top priority and may be a while befor it is fixed.

There is a work around...

Using FetishNightfall:
The Fog button should be visible in the upper right corner of the map. Click it twice, then however many times it takes to set it unchecked.

If for some reason the fog button isn't visible, use the command below to make it visible.

Using every other version of EQ2Maps:
1) type the following into your chat box to display the fog button (Caps matter).
Code:

/show_window MainHUD.Map.FogCheckbox
2) Click the now visible Fog button twice, then however many times it takes to set it unchecked.
3) Now click the World tab and back to Zone map.

Your POIs should be unblocked.

pooka 12-06-2006 09:03 PM

any chance we can sticky this work around? :)

Laomie 12-29-2006 01:18 AM

same problem

Today is the first day I and my husband have had this problem on both pc's 12/28
Has anyone had success in fixing this? It is most agonizing

Dolby 12-31-2006 01:28 AM

I talked with Scott Hartsman today and was told to talk with another person at SOE on this issue so I'll let you know how it goes. This is something that we cant fix on our end.

roglen 01-12-2007 03:04 PM

Anything new?

Is this issue fixed yet? Have not been in any bad zones lately.

Dolby 01-12-2007 03:15 PM

Good news, the lead programmer got back to me (not sure if i can share his name) and he said he was able to fix the problem. The changes he made has to pass Q&A for testing and if all is well should be pushed out some time next week.

TarlRedhair 01-26-2007 05:55 PM

Did the Sony Patch get released?

Dolby 01-26-2007 06:26 PM

Check our front page news... its on the test server.
