Hold off on doing any work on this UI till I get all the graphics done. I want to remove all the shadows I can , everything needs to go on alpha background so will take me afew to get them all done. I realized whats causing the problems. Let me make remake the main chat one more time lol.
Then ill send you a folder with proper structure. Like

Images/mainchat/background.dds
images/Mainchat/border.dds
Images/Mainchat/Buttons.dds

those are just easier I think and I can't work from 2 pallets so I need to put all my stuff together, then organize my files so I can edit them faster. This may be a slow start but if i don't do this right it will be a pain to support this later, If they make any changes to the UI.

sorry for the delay give me a day or so to get organized then we will start again..thanks.

dragowulf 12-02-2005 06:58 PM

alright plus I have a problem, ok when you made the scrollbar not only did the gold thing need to be by itself, so did the frame and the thing you use to scroll, that redish pink thing, ya that needs to be a constant color, not all differant colors because when it stretches it looks all weird, because it need to be 3 parts, like the frame and the gold thing in the scrollbar frame

banehavoc 12-02-2005 11:25 PM

that channel slider button is not meant to be stretched,it's just a small dot .
Ill get those together soon as I can. all the sliders use the same graphic, horizontal as well as vertical.Ill get them on seperate pallets and try to write up a help file for them let me get these all on seperate pallets.

I built these from a single graphic then I have to dissamble them into segments so you can fram them. once I get a format up and together Ill pack them all and post them for you. If we are doing the whole UI and we want uniformity Ill need to skin the entire UI so everything will fit together.
Remember I am a rookie at this hehe.

ok i get it now, sorry to trouble you with brickwall but this is what you should do to make it A LOT easier for me to do it, cut every single window part such as chat, player, heroic, buffs

banehavoc 12-05-2005 08:47 AM

Just wanted to let everyone know that might be interested in this UI progress is coming along nicely , Draco has taken the time to go through many problems I was having learning this BUIlder but now that i got the hang of it got the files done that were needed for the graphics , only a few backgrounds and final buttons left to do. all the conversions are done.

There may possible be 2 types of this UI heavy and light not sure how mucvh time I can commit but when I am done I will release all rights for anyone who wishes to improve upon it. All thge graphics have been taken from interfaces from across multiple platforms WC3 , WoW, Screenshots, and many other places. There are many custom graphics, load screens etc.. also all the colors are very closely matched to WC3, and WOW. Greys, Silvers, and Golds are overlayed , and lots of black hehe.

I love WOW but after seeing that it just didnt compare to EQ after being lv 60 for over 10 months and nothing to do I got into modding Ive always played EQ nothing compares to it. But wow got me hooked with all the brigh colors. I know many will poke fun at it but hey it's a game right I should have what I want so here i am trying to merge the two , stay tuned to see if I can pull this off haha !

Soon I will have pics up and I hope to have a working beta by next weekend if I can fit the time in for it.If not the following weekend for sure. Alos my custom sound files clock in over 100 megs so I will probbably have to find someone to host those.

Binton 12-05-2005 11:10 AM

This UI looks great! Will it be usable on varied resolutions without distortion? I use 1920x1200 WideScreen and have been looking for a UI full of graphics. The one I use now is awesome, but a little bit on the plain side for looks.

There's a lot of really neat stuff you can include like all the extra information, etc... that other UI Authors are including in their UIs.

banehavoc 12-05-2005 11:51 AM

I am doing my best to make all the windows stretch some windows that cant stretch will be locked but they will scale to fit your screen , I am still trying to figure out this UI builder. I have most of the graphics done but placing them into the game is proving difficult. if I figure this out that will be one of the first resolutions after 1600X1200, then the common ones at lower res.

I am trying .. will be a little while still learning this neat tool.

dragowulf 12-05-2005 02:11 PM

Yes, with the different resolutions, and two differant people working on this,( 1 working on Graphics, other working on putting the UI together), it proves hard, but two differant minds at work can make a huge difference. I am working on putting all the graphics in one, sorta like FetishWidgets, and putting the UI in place, and he and his wife are working on the graphics, and sounds. EVERY single window is going to be changed. The Brickwall will be difficult in all resolutions, but I beleive it can be done, stretched or not stretched. I have no estimate when we shall be done.

Here are the raw files that I will be using to make the UI , some are not quite right yet as they need some more added but the UI will draw its info from these images.

banehavoc 12-06-2005 11:33 AM

Just a reminder to the community anyone who has any pointers please speak up.

I can't add functionality to the UI I am only doing the graphics, Draco is the xml guy.

I do like several items from other Ui's such as

TyeJae Heroic Opportunity Wheel
http://www.eq2interface.com/download...fo.php?id=3554
Gradient Chat
http://www.eq2interface.com/download...fo.php?id=3854
[OCD-Adv] Horizontal Journal with Heritage and Writs!
http://www.eq2interface.com/download...fo.php?id=3691
EQ2MAP Project
http://www.eq2interface.com/download...fo.php?id=3430
FetishTradeskills v4.4
http://www.eq2interface.com/download...fo.php?id=3380
XUINIX Persona
http://www.eq2interface.com/download...fo.php?id=3582
[OCD-Adv] Startbutton for ALL Characters
http://www.eq2interface.com/download...fo.php?id=3776
[OCD-Adv] 3-Way Inventory with Stats
http://www.eq2interface.com/download...php?s=&id=3708

I have not asked permission yet for the use of these but I think these are the best at what they do for each window I would not even try to make them better Props to the makers of each.
I will post asking to use them in my mod but i will wait till mine comes closer to a reality as trying to fit additional mods inside mine will add a whole lot to support.

Draco will also have to look at them to see if he can fit them in or if he will have to do them himself.

More to come....

dragowulf 12-07-2005 12:24 AM

Gah, I'm trill in the process of making all the window styles, so I made an example, I made the inventory and tried to log on, wont let me everytime i see my ui i freeze up, so I cannot continue anything as of now till I get my problem fixed.

banehavoc 12-07-2005 01:08 AM

Are you creating new windows styles with my graphics or just linking the existing data to the new graphics I have made ?
Need some more info here before I can help .

dragowulf 12-07-2005 07:34 AM

I am making pages like windowselements buttonstyles, framstyles, iconstyle, etc. before I start with anything else, but I wanted to test some of the stuff I have already made, I got my eq2 to work so it will be fine

Here is the new background icons for the inventory just drop these into the images folder and allow it to overwrite. the size and locations are all correct.

The icon in the upper right corner can be used for food or drink , I made seperate icons for each but didnt know which one you needed.
If you can use the ones i put in there use them first.
Only use the one in the upper right if you have to.

Also in case you didnt get it here is the circle backpack icon.
Draco Ill have more later let me know what you need next.

Knowledge window for ya Draco. pinned the buttons on the right one didnt know which way you wanted it. Anyway the normal window will look like the one on the right it's full of empty slots. The icons in this file are only for this window, they wont fit other windows.

The tan insets are there at all times, the other icons sit inside those.

banehavoc 12-08-2005 09:17 PM

Oh btw Draco this whole thing needs to include Morpheus font ...
let me know if you need it . every item needs to use that font.

dragowulf 12-09-2005 08:23 PM

lol of course I need it =-P

banehavoc 12-10-2005 12:07 PM

Nah forget the first ones use the ones I just posted they look much nicer.
The others may match but are too dark.
The new ones look much nicer.
I wish you had a copy of WOW sdo i could show you what i mean . Remember I can check these in wow as well.

depechenode 12-10-2005 07:19 PM

How are you going to be able to get around the default equip_back icons showing up? I have tried using different icons as well for the charm slots, but everytime I reload the UI, the default background shows no matter what. I even keep the custom equip_back.dds named the same as the default and placed in my custom directory, but somehow, the background seems to be pushed from the server side, overrides and changes any attempt I do to change it's default graphic.

Mahonri 12-10-2005 08:14 PM

can't you just remove the default icon backgrounds and just use the custom images as just images behind the item icon?... If that makes sense...

depechenode 12-10-2005 11:12 PM

I have done this as per my post, replaced the default .dds with my custom .dds HOWEVER, the game seems to still default (forced) to the .dds supplied by SOE.

dragowulf 12-10-2005 11:32 PM

I have not tested it yet, so I am not sure, and I cannot confirm that.

dragowulf 12-11-2005 01:01 AM

I just bought WoW, by the way depech, depeche mode rules

banehavoc 12-11-2005 03:01 AM

I don't know what your doing wrong but dropping the one i made into my custom UI does work I see the background icons just fine. I see them fine in the builder as well. These are my icons overlayed on top of the default graphics. I'll check them again but I am sure they work.

depechenode 12-11-2005 03:21 AM

yours works even when you unequip/re-equip? Please post your .xml if you can so I can see where I am going wrong.

banehavoc 12-11-2005 05:41 AM

Weird are you trying to replace an item icon or the background icon thats in the inventory window ? I can use the default .xml and graphic files, then make a custom UI out of it, and the only file I replace is the equip_back.dds
make sure the path is correct.

C:/Program Files/Sony/EverQuest II/UI/CustomUI/images/equip_back.dds

Also these will only show up when there is nothing in the slot the game uses the actual item icon when there is something in the slot.

banehavoc 12-11-2005 06:32 AM

Ok weird just went in game and checked it does not work, I stink at xml so i snagged 3 way inventory in the downloads section , and used it in the builder it does work but now there is a weird transparency around all my icons. Maybe Soe changed something cause its got me puzzled.Ill work on it and get back to you guys this was working yesterday btw.

depechenode 12-11-2005 09:16 AM

Like I said, for some reason, the server or hardcode prevents any use of a custom .dds file for equip backgrounds. I was trying to use a custom .dds for my mainhud.inventory.xml that shows a different graphic for the two charm slots. But again, SOE defaults always seem to so show up.

banehavoc 12-11-2005 10:56 AM

I can get my custom graphics to show up, I have found out that the yellow on that background is read as a transparency so Ill have to retexture them . should only take me about an hr. Its causing some bleeding I can fix that though.
Still trying to see why yours wont work. Let me check a few things if it wont work I will post my xmls.

banehavoc 12-11-2005 11:09 AM

OK I always have a backup of all my files there has been a change somewhere not sure when. But now even the default window will NOT show the slots in the builder. Not sure if this is caused by the builder itself but more likely a patch of somekind from SOE I looked on the boards and didnt see anything affecting this window so ... I'll keep checking but using a custom xml setup for the inv window will work.

http://www.eq2interface.com/download...fo.php?id=4110
It works just fine. But my graphics need redone.

Can't work on them right now but soon as I get them done I'll post them.
Seems my frames is like 1x1 px off each side allowing the background to show a transparency I will have this fixed asap.

PS: Took care of the bleeding problem no more blue border.
Draco here ya go sorry about that.

PPS:anyone else wanna work on this collaboration ?

dragowulf 12-11-2005 03:52 PM

I am almost done with the inventory, I had to put everything together like fetish widgets, but we still need to test and make a few adjustments.

Here is a screen shot of the inventory window provided by banehavoc. THESE ARE the EQ2UI.Inventory.Inventory.XML FILES NOT mainhud.inventory!!!!!!!!

Left is IN GAME, right is UIBUILDER.

This is what I have been talking about. And YES, I DO have the custom .dds in my correct directory!!!!!!!!!!!

dragowulf 12-11-2005 11:51 PM

It worked for me =-/

This is what it looks like in ui builder so far, we're still working on the xml and graphics so bear with me, im not done yet,i still have to test.

Drumstix42 12-12-2005 10:55 AM

Coming along nicely. Hopefully it won't be too screen-extensive. I love fully custom-made UI's, but sometimes they can take up a bit too much screen space :)

mainhud.inventory.xml IS NOT the correct file.
eq2ui_inventory_inventory.xml IS the correct file.

Sorry to be blunt but your altering the wrong file.
