Hex file hair changing - sabertooth kerrans

When you edit the hex file (for editor goto: http://mh-nexus.de/en/hxd/ ) you can see: accessories/hair/hair015.
Change the number and it will change which hair style your toon has (on a female kerran it will change their adornment). Illusion forms will match up if they have that many options.

Im a female kerran swashy so I have half elf illusion free and my mask for inkie.

Half elves have 13 hair options.
Dark elves have 23 hair options.
Kerrans have 9 adornments, for 10+ there is no adornment.

I started to see a pattern, but when I was testing hair024+ to see what the dark elf illusion would give (stays on hairstyle 23) things got wierd.
I saw hair tufts coming out of my ears and cheeks!
Like a weak pathetic attempt at a mane! So I tested the rest and found a couple sabertooth options. I think people have stumbled on these when they are dark elves and use kerra illusions. (not many people do because in all actuality the kerran females dont look so hot).

hair018 = sabertooth outies *lines on forehead
hair019 - sabertooth innies * lines on forehead
hair023 - fur tufts
hair024 - fur tufts
hair025 - fur tufts

I also noted that in my ccf file i had notes after the hair009 but the kerran didnt. the notes from hair009 to the first ?.. are primary hair color and secondary hair color.

accessories/hair/hair015ÞÜÜ>Ÿž.?¶µ5?öôt?øöv?øöv?..ÞÜÜ>Ÿž.?¶µ5?öôt?øöv?øöv?....................... ...?.accessories/wearable_items/starter_clothes/darkelf_female/chest

everything after hair-015 to the "........................." was color info.
I used to have pure black hair on all my illusion forms. Now I can choose a haircolor and paste it into my kerran file.

Workin on it more right now. have fun.

by pasting in the information from my halfelf.ccf into my kerra.ccf I can now see the halfelfs adornments: lip and nose stud as well as having two color hair istead of just jet black.

copy the selection in blue from "...hair001òðp=.€€;©¨¨=âà`=.€€<¡**<..accessories/hair/face/face009òðp=.€€;©¨¨=âà`=.€€<¡**<..........................?.accessories/..."

pretty interesting find. we should compile all this into one spot so we don't get confused =)

Have anyone been able to add fae wings to Wood Elf?

People in game were tripping, but I deleted him because well I assume that it shouldn't be like that, and I was just testing.

When we determine that someone has hacked around with their appearance file, we set them to a troll to correct the problem. So most likely you just did something invalid.

Now to address the issue of modifying CCF files in general...

I'm no SOE lawyer, but I would expect the EULA prohibits doing this since those files are part of the game and you are making modifications to them outside of the game. Obviously nothing is going to happen if you're playing around with the locally, but I expect if you made something that was obviously hacked and used it on a live server you'd risk someone petitioning your character. Again, I'm not sure what Customer Service policy is on this, so I don't know what action they would take if they verified someone hacked their CCF file. I don't even want to speculate because I don't want to be responsible for someone doing something and then getting quoted in a petition. "But Rothgar said on EQIIInterface that..." :)

There are some logical behind-the-scenes reasons why certain characteristics are not validated on the server, but this is something we are aware of and will most likely look into fixing soon. This has become more popular lately and is now drawing more attention.

Hate to be a stick in the mud but my opinion would be to not do this on a live server. Even if you know someone who has done this and nothing happened to his character, I wouldn't use that as precedent for your own actions. :)

Hmmm... sounds.... dangerous. I don't care, I'm keeping my bearded tonga.

dragowulf 02-13-2009 10:17 PM

Well something went really wrong and I ended up with an invisible Erudite a couple weeks ago. I didn't even know myself (don't ask why), but I got suspended for 3 days for apparently PvP exploits. I didn't know though and I just let it be. Never going to trip out my char again. Although the CS said that it was a bug in the game. IDK.

I will however use the goatee for the rat. :p

gm9 02-14-2009 06:55 AM

Lol @ invisible char on a PvP server. Can't say I didn't warn you guys to do this on live servers. Judging from Rothgar's post you may have forced them to fix it so you can't even play around with it for fun.

Hovan 02-22-2009 10:49 AM

Is there a listing somewhere of the color values. I got the dark blue, green and pink for a ratonga from a friend.... but I really want to figure out how to do black. My primary color is black, so I just want to get the rest of me to be black. Assuming this is possible, as the other colors are changing what I want.

Thanks!

CCF Files

how exactly do you do that specificly i am curious to give my wood elf a goatee also there has been a rumor going around that some how you can change the appearance of the armour custom make your own armour in game is there any creadance to that and if so how do you do that and whsnt do you need to get r done.. and also can anyone make a tracking window with more options in it like detecting quest items like say the shards needed for the eye for power quest.. and a way to determine wether or not the pc on tracking is freeporter or queynosian that would be helpfull:cool:

The short answer to all of those is no.
Although for harvestables, there is a tinkered item that will let you track them (via the item, not via normal tracking).

The server should no longer allow "illegal" colors like pink and such. You may be able to get them loaded in the character creator, but I don't think it will actually let you in the game with them.

That's why it's surprising that you decide to respond now to a post you've already responded to in February. ;)

PS: Unless Dolby wants to lock it I'll keep it open though.

I made pink rotonga

Just yesterday i made a pink rotonga and played for about 10 min.
i than made green and blue but for got to save the a file of pink.
I know it works i can not seem to duplicate the code.
I sure some one was smarter than me and saved a pink ccf file.

dragowulf 11-10-2009 12:05 AM

Make a pink Fae or Arasai and copy the code of the color over to the ratonga code and it should work. I did that with a High Elf. I managed to make a High Elf look like a Dark Elf (Dark Purple).

Worked great thanks

That worked great thanks, I also yearned some new tricks with that advice:)

I just want to make a pink kerra. I do not know how to edit the colors. I am a big noob to hex color editing. Does anyone have a ccf file already made?
Or could you tell me which line of numbers is the colors? I am completly lost lol.

Sanorah 12-22-2009 04:34 PM

Read this: http://www.eq2interface.com/portal.php?&id=4&pageid=15

Let me explain:
1 save you'r toons appearance (I would as a light color)
2 load that appearance and change the hair color and only the hair color to a dark color and save it.
3 now that you have 2 .ccf view them both in HxD and look for the code diferance, that will be the code that needs to be replaced with the code of a color of you chosing.
4 to get colors like pink or blue, you need to make a toon that has the colors like fay, they can have pink and blue head hair, using the steps 1-3 find the code that represents the colors.
5 copy the code of the color you want to use and past it in the place of code thats color you want to change, save it and load that .ccf to test.

Note: not all colors work for all races its trial and error and even more pissy is some time you can make a race color change in the character screen but the server will not let you play it. Good luck
