- Yes fine, I have one and have been playing Beta with settings reasonably high, yeah sure I could have got a 6800 if i had £250-£300 but my fx5900xt was only £100, it's fine, but you can't turn on too many environment shadows, and stuff or it does start to stutter a bit.

Overall it is as smooth as silk on medium settings.

Thanks, looks like I'll be pushing it and probably get some lag. The link on that site that tests your system for requirements says I'll be doing OK but might need to upgrade from 512 RAM to 1 G.

Wish I could've made it in BETA just to test my system (as well as the obvious thrill of actually playing).

Awesome, EQ1 has the capabilites of having shadows now and they lag me to hell, reason they're off :) Just means good news for me! Thnx for all the responses to my question.

Nice set of screens, Vampiro. I myself use the GeForce FX 5950 Ultra 256mb card. It works great for me, cant really turn the detail to max but i can get it pretty close and at a nice framerate. I wont be upgrading til i build myself a new system sometime next year.

Kudane, what kind of PC system you on? Are you using the Dual Vid card setup? Those PCIe mobos came out like 3 weeks after I built this PC of mine, so I guess it was bad timing on my part. Next time tho, mwahahaha!

Help with video card!

Hi guys just wanted to know if my 9600Xt at 256 would work for EQ2 if not, I'm might just say forget it and cancel the game  :(

Findarato 11-03-2004 11:28 PM

eh I am running it on a TI 4400 128MB card.

it runs fine, but need something better for raids, it does get kinda steppy :P

The hardware thats out now is no doubt impressive.. BUT it still doesnt really stand out ans scream WOW this is amazing..
I agree with Taleisin. ill be waiting for the WOW factor before i upgrade/re-build again.

hmm...

I hear that a Ti 4200 (mine) 128MB with AGP 8x is better than a lot of the FX 5000's. On one of the tests here shows that the Ti4200 and 4600 outperformed a lot of the newer video cards (on the first test >.<)...

and yeah...=x

I run a 5200 with 8x AGP and 120mb.. and with graphic tab turned to performance, I had no trouble running EQ2 Beta, now dont get me worng i had to give alot of the nice scenery too, made landscape look like slightly upgraded eq1.

Those test results are for the game Far Cry and were with zero AA/AF . they do not show the overall performance of the card. Pick any other benchmark and the TI4200 is at the bottom of the list.
