i'd delete the entire UI folder and re-patch if you're having a serious issue. the files dont take long to download.

Zonx 05-02-2005 06:15 AM

Chumba, see FetishNightfall.doc "Customizations" for code changes to set personabar to always use size1.

It also sounds like you've got the dreaded "windows settings wont save" SOE bug. A file was posted to the Classic thread that appears to fix the problem.

Steppin, not sure what's up with your examine. Right-click menus sometimes lag on me, but this is the first report I've seen of Examine failing entirely. Might be wise to trash your Fetish directory and reinstall the UI.

Kale27, the width of the bars is set in each window file. To make them wider, you'll need to tweak the possition and width for each of the bars and their backgrounds. The images can be edited to any design you want with Phtoshop and the DDS plugin. Also note, the Player and both Target windows do stretch if you just want them wider.

Fetish clock.

I posted on the main board with no help. Was thinking maybe I post here, I might find a clue to my issue.

I have downloaded the 2 standalone clocks, and even downloaded the fetish and extracted the clock data.
Placed in the correct directories respectively, /ui/dream and /ui/dream/images.

I placed my eq2.ini in the correct directory, and everything loads fine. Except the clock.

I have tried different clocks, (deleting the old) and replacing with new.

I have taken it out, reloaded, and placed it back with no success.

Would someone tell me what I have done wrong that the cloak refuses to show up more then a black box?

Thanks

Sho

A problem with this mod

I've been trying to get this mod to work on my system, after it being highly recommended by one of my guildmates. I'll go through each step with what I did:

Quote:

1. If you have a prior Fetish UI, re-title that directory or delete it.
This being my first downloaded mod for EQ2, I had no previous Fetish directory, so there should be no problem here.

Quote:

2. Create a new directory titled Fetish under your Everquest II\UI directory. By default...
c:\program files\sony\everquest II\ui\Fetish
Did this, made a copy of the existing 'Default' folder with everything in it, renamed it 'Fetish'.

Quote:

3. Open Notepad and copy/paste the following 2 lines of code
cl_ui_subdir UI/
cl_ui_skinname Fetish
Copied and pasted the lines of code to notepad, there were no extraneous spaces at the beginning or end of the lines of code in the document. File was saved as 'eq2.ini' and shows up as a normal .ini file in the EQ2 directory.

Quote:

4. Save AS eq2.ini to
c:\program files\sony\everquest II\
Done as stated above.

Quote:

5. Install EQ2MAP to the new Fetish directory

6. Install and run the EQ2MAP auto-updater
Havent downloaded EQ2Map yet, wanted to see how this UI was on my system first before I added anything else to it.

Quote:

7. Unzip the contents of this archive into the Fetish directory, replacing all files when prompted.
Did this, and yes I extracted it from the .zip file, not copy/pasting. All files should be in their correct subdirectories. When prompted to overwrite the existing files in the Fetish directory, I selected 'Yes to All'.

When I run EQ2, the mod splash screen shows up, and the new border line tints/motifs show up. I get to the character select screen with no problems. I choose my character, click 'Enter' and it starts to load up. I can see all of the default windows that are usually up (chat box, with chat text in it, can even see when people are speaking, name box, exp bar, compass, Earth/Norrath clocks, etc.) I see the shrunk loading art, and the rest of the screen is black. When it finishes loading, the screen stays black (with the listed windows still viewable.) and then the screen goes completely black, and I get an error saying EQ2 has encountered a problem and has to shut down, and it prompts me to either send an error report to MS or just close it.

Any help would be appriciated.

Shohanna, your clock is probably saved in a closed state. Toggling the Fetish Compass off and on should now bring up the Clock. Should stay open from then on.

Machival, a few prblems with your install.

First, do not copy the default directory. Trash your existing Fetish dir and make a new EMPTY directory called Fetish. Unzip to there.

Second, if you're not installing EQ2MAP, you'll need to delete the eq2ui_mainhud_map.xml from the Fetish directory. This file REQUIRES EQ2MAP. By deleteing it, EQ will load the default Map which wont have the same Fetish skin.

If you decide to install EQ2MAP at some point, just download and run the auto-updater.

Open your custum ui folder, then open images folder
Find file called fetish_bars.dds ( i believe). Trash it/rename it to whatever. find the one called _ribbed_fetish_bars.dds ... Rename that one to fetish_bars.dds

period. should be okay then

Shade2074 05-03-2005 01:48 PM

I'm using fetish nightfall 3.5 - everything appears to be working properly EXCEPT the chat window.

When I type in the chat area and my mouse is over the chat window everthing appears ok:

BUT when my mouse is NOT over the chat window, the text I type appears over the last line of text in the chat window:

is this a known bug, or is it something only happening to me?
Any quick fixes?
:(

Try reading the thread and look back about 10-15 posts. Already noted and fix stated. Was ment to be like that, but is an easy fix. Replace the mainchat.xml file with the one from the 3.4 release.

Kromulis 05-03-2005 02:15 PM

It's designed that way. I personally don't like it so I pulled the eq2.mainhud_mainchat.xml from Fetish 3.4 and dropped that in my current fetish folder.

Maybe Zonx can include an alternate version in Fetish 3.6 after LU8? /shrug

Sorry Uggliey, I admit I skimmed through the posts and and then skipped to the last page and read those - I didn't see anything on it before I made this post.

Now just out of curiousity why would anyone design the chat to be like that -to me it's just awfully annoying. I can't see why anyone would want this. To me it would be like adding a new feature so that now when ever you chat you don't see anything you type. I just can't see the benifit. :( I've applied the fixes though, thank you. :)

missing the part where this is a bug. its supposed to be green on top blue on bottom (health and power respectively). SOunds to me like you renamed the simple file intead of ribbed. Can you post a screenie?

vochore 05-03-2005 05:24 PM

got it to work, instead of renaming fetish_bars i just completly deleted it then renamed ribed to fetish_bars,that worked.

again thanks for the fast response, lookes great now. :)

Not sure, but it sounds like you missed the install instructions that said to install EQ2Map before installing Fetish. I can't say for sure, but I've seen several other posts in this thread with that symptom and that was the cause.

I agree with you for the distaste of the current chat box but I love everything else Zonx has done. I just use his older version and it's great.

Great UI, Zonx. I've been using since the first, and will continue. Quick question, is there anyway to make the UI for just one character? It takes over my whole account. Is there a way to seperate it into character.ini files?

Thanks again brother,

Belrain

Zonx the ui is killer. I have yet to find anything about it I don't like. So I have to ask, how soon will we see a patch for the new guild tool so I can switch back?

As an offy in my guild I had to go back to default today and I'm not happy about it.

I hope to be pushing out a new version with the new guild window and revised chat window today.

No there isn't any way to apply a custom UI to a single toon.

To answer the question "Why anyone would want the current chat window" it maximizes the chat text area when you're not actually chatting, reducing dead space. Particularly usefull if you use several chat windows on screen and/or don't need to watch what you type and/or don't chat much.

I personally have no problem typing without watching the input and don't mind mousing over on those rare occations I do need to see what I've typed.

In any event, its an option. Didn't occure to me anyone would have a problem reverting to the 3.4 version or downloading the Oreic addon if they didn't like it. As I've said elsewhere, this next release will include an optional simple chat window file for those that don't like the hidable chat. Also hidable chat will have an option to disable hidable input for each chat window by showing the titlebar or using specifc titles.

Could you use the UI switcher prog to change which UI is loaded. I admit that this will mean fully exiting EQ2 each time you switch Toon but I think it would do what you wanted to do.

Aren't you being just a bit, oh I dunno, demanding? The patch has JUST barely been out for a whole day. Less then that if you count earlier today when servers went down again for the quick fix. Have a little patience and give Zonx some respect. He is changing more than just the guild window file with 3.6. The chat window comes directly to mind. I know for a fact that Zonx is working hard on updating BOTH Classic and FNF.

Chill.

Edit: Heh, he beat me too it. See what I mean about being good with his updates? Its not as if he waited weeks or even days. He came out with an update barely over 24 hours from patch 8 going live.

Long live Zonx!
