Regarding this zip file, I put these files in the necessary directories and in bubblshire town, the game's map is replaced by the tradeskill map. I went back to old xml file called eq2ui_mainhud_map.xml and things were back to normal, but no tradeskill map.

Regarding stormhold, could we get permission and is there interest in this map: http://eq2.gamergod.com/images/stormhold.gif? Otherwise, what is status of stormhold please?

yea the tradeskill map i accidentally left it on as top layer...it will be fixed in beta release, right quib? :)

and yes that is indeed an awesome map of SH, ill look into it.

First let me say, awesome job guys, this is THE UI mod we all been waiting for. Keep up the good work.

Last nite I went into Stormhold and noticed I am missing the images for that map, I can see the icons but no map, can someone plz post them, I downloaded all the 6 releases posted in this thread and they dont seem to have them.

SH is not there because the guy from gry-online said we werent allowed to use it. Sooo it needs redone. Trying to get that one on the link above.

Wow. This is probably the most useful mod of all time. After getting lost in Down Below two or three times last night I finally got around to going through this thread and finding all the ZIPs to get it working…and I have to say, I'm very, very glad I did. Thanks for all your hard work. :D

stuck stormhold first floor map a few pages backsomewhere, thats one I made so we can use it, haven't done second floor yet, was working onCOB.

I found out how to get icons to show in antonica, commonlands, etc.

You actually have to put it under images/maps and images/icons and those folders should already be there..not sure if you were trying to put it just under /maps and /icons or not..

I have had some odd things happen when I tried to do the Franken-install. First time I tried it I had tradeskill map on top of all my map windows. Second time around I guess I did it in the correct order.

Also, I only have icon_map3.dds in my icons folder, are there more? Last question, those long code posts you guys make about the icons in zones, should I be copying those to some kind of icon folder in Notepad or something, or is that just between devs and incorporated in what I've already downloaded?

by the way, really sux that I just heard about this today, I'm in SH all the time, but I got the lousy white maps :mad:

if you didn't make an eq2.ini file, you have to do that.

Open up notepad, and type in this


cl_ui_subdir UI/
cl_ui_skinname myui


Save the file in your Everquest II directory as eq2.ini NOT eq2.txt or eq2.ini.txt

heres what tony's got

any DDS files not included are missing because that gry online dude wouldnt allow us to use his maps.

I apologize if one slipped thru, lemme know.

EDIT: tested that out and the icons page is on top of everything else, so you cant click anthing on the map unless its in the icons tab. Ill fix it later :)

EDIT2: here, this should fix the above problem (the second attachent, xml type)

This mod is getting SO popular guys! I think we almost need a new forum section just dealing with this.

Especially with all the new stuff about quests, it would be much nicer to have a forum section where we can divide it up by major zones (qeynos,freeport,antonica,TS,nektulos,commonlands,etc)

Is this possible?

Pael, the icon posts are just between us on the project; they get put into the newest xml very quickly. Actually pretty much everything ehre is between us on the project, that you guys can download it is just sort of a bonus to this open-to-the-public system we're using to pass stuff back and forth.

We're not here to help you troubleshoot the "Franken-install" (that word's hilarious =D) and since our first official release will happen soon, helping is a counter-productive use of our time. If you've had trouble getting it to work, just hold off for a few days when it'll be all wrapped up with a nice bow on it.

That being said, here's all the work up to this point in one download. =P

P.S. - Tony, I don't have your Antonica or Commonlands icons in this yet as I want to integrate them with the Select Map tab. Will get that all done up a little later. Also, your download has some gry-online maps in it and should probably be taken down.

Serpent Sewer and the 4 Freeport newbie zones. Anything that he had any part of we aren't using at all. Meaning, if they were obtained from his site, we aren't using them. Even stuff of his that's derivative he recolored/sized.

The maps that you guys make look better than most i've seen - they are clear and easily read. I would rather see you remake those maps anyway :)

This isn't up for debate. Serpent Sewer was made by him, and the Freeport newbie zones were taken from his retooled images. Please remove those maps from your attachment.

What do we name these for them to work? anteast.dds isn't working, all other maps are working though. I'd love the Ant maps to work

anteast doesnt have a map. Its just icons that hover over the in-game map. Same with antwest, comeast, comwest , and any other in-game map in the future

I scanned my freeport map and redid sprawl, graveyard, sunken city, and the ruins. They look WAY better

If the images are off, please post a screenshot with your map up while you are standing at farthest points NSEW (four screenshots total)

Got your Stormhold I map converted for in-game use Sunthas, it looks great. The new Freeport maps are awesome Tony, I'm double checking all the zonerects now; so far they seem even more accurate than before.

I am currently trying to find a happy middleground on where to place the selected map/icons page layer so that you get the most benefit from it (so you can use a custom map and icons and still have your little character widget showing in commonlands, etc.).

Also, I wanted to ask you about author acknowledgements Tony; you put your name directly on the maps you've done, and a tooltip on your icons tab page. I had been trying to avoid plastering author names all over the in-game stuff and had been trying to keep them all in the readme file so the UI looks as clean as possible. Would you be willing to compromise on this? I have no problem with you branding your maps as they are very nice, but could I kill the tooltip and just make sure you're fully acknowledged in the readme.

Also in regards to this, would you like me to add your name to your maps Sunthas (or anyone else who's contributed a map(s))?

Anyway, it's not a critical matter and it's your call since it's your work.

hehe yea take off the author tooltip for the maps. I kinda like it on the Icons tab though:)

going to do TS here toon for that icons page...i think putting the TM_Icons page under Map.MapPage right below icons should make it so the default icons are clickable as well. about to try it myself

EDIT: bah the stupid fog layer they add goes right on top of it.

absorbinput=false should deactivate pathfindloc, which isnt in there yet anyway, but still...

maybe in onclick for icons page: Parent.MapPage.Icons.Visible=False
and in the TM_hide button Parent.Parent.MapPage.Icons.Visible=True

then put all the default icons inside the TM_icons' overlay, so it looks like the originals never left.

i need to go to sleep so one of you can try, or else i will tomorrow sometime

There're certain properties you can give objects to allow clicks to fall through them. I "think" it's
AbsorbsInput="false" Enabled="false" GetsInput="false"

Anyway, I'll see what I can come up with as well. We're one map and one page of location icons from our first official release. =D

UI graphics (at least the maps) are reloaded each time you zone. I modified a map then zoned out and back in and the in-game image changed. I may mess around with this later to make sure all graphics are reloaded, and that it isn't just a property of the in-game maps. If the UI is in fact reloading all graphics every time you zone, then it's being dang inefficient. =P

Just lost my arrow on my main maps - so I cant tell where I am on them. Anyone know a simple fix? I have the maps showing up in game properly but just lost the arrow. Thanks

bneta86, You're either missing or don't have icon_map3.dds in the right folder.

I integrated your (Tony) location icons for Antonica and The Commonlands into the Select Map tab. The buttons that select the zone have you as the author as their tooltip. I got the layers to stack just fine, all it took was adding AbsorbsInput="false" to the icon page, not the icons themselves. Tell me what you think. Also, here's Sunthas' Stormhold I map; you can take a look at it in the Select Map tab if you don't want to hike to Stormhold.

Make sure to get map_rev_2_1.zip and tonyis3l33t's Freeport maps.
