Sample of 1080p on an HD TV
|
|
This modifies the default fonts and windows to allow EQ2 to be played on a HD TV using 1080p Resolution. This is my third pass at it and will be modified further as I find problems. Turns out SOE modified some files awhile back. This takes care of the problem.
Note if you have version 1 installed in MyUI please remove all the previous files before using this one. I have found a way to do it with far less files!

eq2.ini
I'm using profit UI so I couldn't put another ini file in so I added it to profits but it's not working so I'm sure I didn't do it correctly. This is a copy:
cl_ui_skinname MyUI
cl_ui_subdir UI/cl_ui_skinname ProfitUI_CE
cl_ui_subdir UI/
cl_options_advanced 1
cl_load_ui_resources_timeout 0
What do I need to change?

Can this Interface be used with EQ2 maps? I ask because my original Eq2.ini file has Eq2 maps in it and would like to use both. Do the same instructions apply?
Thanks so much for creating this. Having only 1 Eye you're doing me a HUGE favor.

Recently however, I updated my Nvidia drivers to the latest version. Now, for some reason, instead of 1920 X 1080, the drivers think my proper resolution is 1786 X 1010. Honestly, I don't really see a difference, both in Windows and in Games, but this was bceause the desktop resize feature in Nvidia control panel was being cut off (too big) in the current driver version. Before, it wasn't cut off. and in this version making it smaller to fit my screen scales down the resolution to as well. Maybe my native resolution is not 1090? This is the only resolution Everquest II seems to work with without cutting off the edges. I notice your readme mentions it screws up the font at lower resolutions. Is this true for even 1786 X 1010? I don't really see a difference, everything is bigger as intended, but item and skill descriptions (the popup window) still seems small. Is this distorted because of 1786 x 1010, or did you just not work on this yet?
(Nevermind, found tooltip font size in the hundreds of menu options.)

The other windows are now fixed with version 2.0

"To install it just copy all files to the MyUI directory"
That's all it says, other than to not use the small in-game font. Confused that it didn't mention the eq2.ini thing, I felt I had to take the directions literally and looked for a folder called MyUI. Naturally it's not there, so I just replaced where I did find these files, and since it worked, I thought there was no problem.

Sorry my deepeset appologies. I should have said more in the instructions. Like the majority of interfaces here this needs to be installed in a seperate UI folder and the eq2.ini be edited to handle it. As mentioned you need to follwo these directions.

Before anyone starts flaming, I have noticed something.
Anyone who downloads this, make sure you run the game via Everquest2.exe. DO NOT run the launcher as this will automatically change the files back to the original ones. Of course you can always put it back in before you hit play, but that would be annoying.
I assume that since Everquest2.exe requires you to still login at the welcome screen, it will detect if it needs an actual update, right?
