I know this is on the old side but I am coming back after years and I am now on Linux. However this dose not seem to work on the newest version of POP OS 21.04 (Ubuntu), I was wondering if we can get an updated version of this that works with newer versions of Ubuntu.

Well latest version uses the compressed repository, witch adds a uncompression part that could posebly be feelt on a older CPU.
as for the actual download speed its as fare as I can tell pritty much the same for PyEQ2MAP as the Perlscript. and slightly faster than the official windows updater running in XP.
If you however used a bash script that would be using a external downloader as wget you would most likely get slightly faster downloads.
But if PyEQ2MAP Updater realy is _painfully_ slower its more likely something is wrong in the setup.

Check out www.winehq.org and look at the application database. You might be surprised at how many win32 applications work just fine on Linux.
