Your best bet is probably to remove all your custom mods (delete or at least rename the custom mod directory) and then re-install them one at a time. With the first 3 being any full conversions you may have (ie Profit, ThorUI), followed by EQ2Map (if it doesn't come bundled with the full conversion), followed by this mod. And when it comes to this mod follow the install instructions for first-time users.
I think I've figured that out finally tonight...not the specific cause but how to fix it. My friend and I had noticed this as well the last few days. Basically, anyone experiencing this needs to go back and delete their existing eq2i_custom.xml and eq2i_custom_poifinder.xml files. Then make sure you have the latest download version of POI Finder, make sure you rename the example file by taking out the '_example' portion of the filename, and then re-copy everything but the .txt helpfile from the extract into your UI\EQ2Map folder (or whatever the name of your custom UI subfolder is if not EQ2Map). I just did that and re-logged in and finally everything is as it should be. I did have to re-zoom in on the map as it defaulted to zoomed in close for some reason, but POI Finder itself looks perfect now as it should.

Note: I realize the instructions basically state to do this, but I'm saying do it again if you encounter this problem. Now that I think about it, I think the issue is isolated specifically with the eq2i.custom.xml and eq2i.custom_example.xml files. Ever since the first 'new' version post-RoK, I'd been ignoring the example file and renaming and copying it over each time after the first time I'd done it, thinking it only needed to be done once. That file probably has changed at least once in all the fixes/revisions since, and obviously there are others out there that had made this same mistake.

Strange problem

I have been using this mod for a while with no issues. As of lately I install the latest version of eq2map and this mod and I have a situation where the poi finder has a blacked out backgroup. I see blue poi's but can scroll because the entire window is otherwise black. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

This directory inside of the UI directory is where you need to extract the downloaded zip file for this mod. I will refer to it from here on as the POIFinder Install Directory. So if your directory path looks something like Everquest2\UI\customDir\eq2map, then your POIFinder Install Directory is customDir (doesn't have to be called customDir - could be named anything).

In your case, your POIFinder Install Directory is ProfitUI. Not eq2map.
Thank you that was the fix... I guess it was that one place in the install instructions I kept going back to the one that read eq2map... all better now though!!

Can't see new button or doesn't work...

I use Profit for my UI... I've never had trouble with installing anything regarding UI's or your previous versions of this wonderful plug in, but after RoK, I can't get my PoI finder to work. Either because I'm not seeing the new button (before the relocation of it I couldn't get plug in to work either) or because of other reasons.

I have totally deleated all files that were associated with the old PoI finder hoping that a fresh install would be a fix, but it wasn't.

I am installing in the only eq2maps folder in Profit UI. Since my new EQ2Maps updater goes only there... my default has no eq2maps folder.

It looks like this: Sony/EverquestII/UI/ProfitUI/eq2map

There is only one eq2map folder for me to unzip to and I'm doing that. I'd really love to get this working again... it's spolied me.

Yes, my EQ2maps (the newest version) is up to date as is my Profit... I use auto updater for each.

After much tweaking (such as copying the poifinder.xml into profits MAIN ui folder and copying the new button's xml file (plugin 7) where it sat all alone and didn't over ride the old button (plugin 7) I could no longer see...into the eqmap file ... I do see button now and the window does open just no text in the window.

The rest I'm clueless about... it's again Sony/EverquestII/UI/Profit/eq2map/poifinder...I'd love to get this fixed.

Thanks soo much!

Any idea what could be causing this?
Seems like two layers of text at the top of the POI Finder window (happens on every map). All of the PoI's in that window above "A shuffled page 11" are not clickable. Thanks for any help!

Baz - Did you hear about the new button location? If you did and it really is missing from the bottom left corner of the map then you might want to make sure the plugin_7.xml file is being installed in the correct spot. That's the file that creates the button.

Strange - I saw in the Henchman support thread something about a henchman.xml file I'd have to include. I'll look into it, and hopefully it won't be too complicated. Though I can't promise an immediate fix.

can't get it working

I can't seem to get this to work, i'm using the eq2map auto updater i've installed everything where it needs to go and it doesn't show up on my map (the button doesn't) i'm using fetishnightfall ui but i don't think that would have anything to do with it does it?

Henchman compliant

Hi

Minor (I hope) request - could you make POIfinder Henchman compliant (Henchman gets confused and installs POIfinder one level up in the folder hierarchy iyswim).

Great mod - I couldn't play without it any more!

I'm using a customized grid overlay and the new position for the open button gets in the way so I ended up moving it. For anyone else who might be interested:

Open the EverQuest II/UI/Custom/eq2map/plugin_7.xml file (Notepad++ works great for this type of editing) and change the Location in the second line to "22,66". This is a great place to have the button as it's perfectly diagonal to the "+" button for the POI menu options.

I see you found the button I do think that it is a bit small and hard to click at the moment. Luckily I already figured out how to make it bigger. I'll include that change next time I update in a day or 2.

After updating the PoIFinder today my button to open it disappeared, any ideas?
Plenty. Looking at the new screen capture above or reading the version notes for 1.50 will give you some too
