Only install the latest version, which also contains fixes that the patch does not have.

I've never had any trouble, either, but I think a lot depends upon which "unzip" program you're using, and what your default settings happen to be. Certainly, especially for less savvy users, Kudilu's suggestion isn't going to cause any *trouble*, even if it isn't, strictly speaking, necessary.

Not necessarily. Every UI I've installed I've dragged & dropped from the zip file to the custom UI folder with no problems. If the file/folder structure is correct in the zip, it should copy correctly to the custom UI.

you really have to actually USE the 'extract' button, tell it which folder you want to be the start of the extract, and tell it to keep folder pathing and names. if you do this, it will create the folder structure required for this kind of window to work.
thought this might help.

As is noted in the text you partially quoted, which is seen every time you choose to post a file comment on *any* mod available here at eq2interface.com, all help or feature requests are supposed to be posted in the relevant thread in the "released mods" forum.
And as is stated in the description of this specific mod, "Please post any comments, suggestions or questions on the appropriate forum thread, and not here. That way, I'll know as soon as I visit that new comments exist. Thanks!" (The "appropriate forum" text, by the way, is a hyperlink which takes you directly to the forum thread in question.)
Personally, I don't much care one way or the other, and folk post what should be forum messages as file comments and vice versa all the time, anyway, but, well, protocol is protocol.

The fact that you're only getting a black window suggests that something's wrong with your installation.
(a) The "customUI" folder should be in the "UI" folder, along with the "Default" and "fonts" folders. (b) The "customUI" folder should contain the "eq2ui_journals.xml" and "eq2ui_journals_infocenter.xml" files, as well as the "infocenter" folder. (c) The "infocenter" folder should, in turn, contain a dozen files and a dozen subfolders.
If that *doesn't* match the way things are currently structured, well, there's your problem. If it *does* match, we'll have to investigate further.
Either way, just to keep the Powers That Be happy, please post any follow-up comments on the forum rather than here.

Black Window
I have never posted here before, I love the satement "Don not post a comment asking for help". sooo... how do you GET HELP?
I have installed this UI but just get a black window when I run "/show_window Journals.InfoCenter". I created a subfolder under the UI directory called customUI, and I modified the eq2.ini file (backed it up and then delted everything in it). I then added the text:
cl_ui_skinname customUI
cl_ui_subdir UI/
As I said, when I run the command ingame all I get is a large black window. So, if I can't get help here can some please direct me where I can?
Thanks-
Tib

Re: DWB HQ
Also noticed today that the T5 Freeport writs below need changing.
- Dismal Rage (priests) Nothing to Wash Out, kill Sootfoot rockpickers not peons
- Dismal Rage (priests) Her Former Tooth, kill Sootfoot harvesters not laborers
- Freeport Militia (fighters) Deep Blue (does not exsist) but Feral Awakening does, kill ice wolves in Everfrost
- Playing with Fire, kill Bitterwind Pioneers not explorers
- Seafury Buccaneers (scouts) Spider Matriarch (does not exsist) but The Hermits does, kill Kromise Hermits

DWB HQ
You may want to include the update of the DWB HQ in your next update.
I just came back last month, and was not aware of the changes until I did the quest last week, but thought I would post incase no one else has mentioned it yet. OGaming does have the current version.
Keep up the great work
