ACCESS QUEST -- The Everling Lockets (Level 30)

=====================================

(Though technically not an access quest, this quest must be at least partially completed -- the six sisters must be killed -- before you can access the lower level of Nektropos Castle.)

This quest begins by speaking to Alexa in Nektropos. There is a chapel room that is filled with two groups of Priestess' of Ulkorruuk. After killing these off, a named spawn will appear named the Inqusitor of Ulkorruuk. After defeating the named monster, you will get to meet Alexa. You will meet this person several times in the zone during this quest and she kind of guides you around. There will be a short monologue indicating that you need to find access to the basement.

Before getting to the basement though, you need to get on top of the castle... the 3rd floor. In the southwest corner of the 1st floor there is game room. The room has a pool table, a chess-like table, and a dart board. One of these will be selectable and will give you a note that tells you to check the lightning fixtures for a secret lever. Just outside the game room to the left is the fixture that will open the secret door that goes all the way to the 3rd floor of the castle.

You will find yourself in the bottom of a 3 story tower. Climb to the next level up of that tower and you will find yourself in Elise's bedroom. Elise is one of the 6 sisters of Everling. Elise will not be in her bedroom, but the book on her desk is selectable. Selecting the book triggers Alexa to spawn again up on the castle wall. You will need to go up from the bedroom and find Alexa on the walkway.

There are 6 towers, for each of the 6 sisters. Alexa will tell you that you need the locket from each of the sisters.

You will find the 1st daughter, Elise on the middle catwalk, only after you have clicked the book in her bedroom (the tower in which you entered this portion of the quest).

The other 5 sisters are in the appropriate towers of the castle. Shelia and Jenni are in their own towers. Melani and Crystal will both spawn in Melani's tower, they are grouped... but only after you have killed Crysta's Handmaiden and gone to Crystal's tower and clicked on her bed. You will find a journal under the bed that tells you that Crystal used to enjoy playing with Melani in her bedroom. How cute.

Diedre spawns in her tower on the bottom floor. However, upon entering Diedre's room, Archfiend Izzoroth will spawn. He is a Level 45 ^^^group x2 mob. He's one hell of a demon, and will death touch for over 1800 damage. He is magically rooted though with a very short attack range, so he can be skipped by hopping over the railing. All of these daughters are level 35 ^^ , with the execption of Crystal who is only ^.

Once all 6 daughters are dead, Alexa will have the power to unlock all the doors in the castle. She will spawn and give you clues to find the next piece.

The following walkthrough is a combonation of information from Drakmyre, and OGaming's Xivexus:

Unlocking all the doors has given you access to the second floor of the castle now. I'd suggest using Crysta's room as that speeds things up.

If you use Crysta's door, you will turn left in the hallway and quickly find a door in a short hallway on your right (hallway faces south), this is the Captain's Study... but it's locked, and you can't even select it. Continue down the hallway and you will find a set of double doors : these glow and lead into the broken stairwell on the first floor. A little farther down the hall is another room. Go inside the room and kill the two caretakers and the decayed corpse ONLY IF your quest journal reads "I need to find a way into the basement." Even if they're grey, they'll still update your journal with the key you need. I swear, people obsess over chest drops for this step when you don't need them.

Once you've killed them, go back to the Captain's Study, open the door, then go in and read the book all the way through. When you're done, Guard Captain Ga'vin will run in through the doors. It won't auto aggro if he's grey. Kill him and your journal should update again. Click on the ashtray/urn/spitoon by the bookcase after you kill him. "use" it to open up the passageway.

Go down the passage and click on the dead-end wall to spin it around and let you pass through.

You will decent in to a wine cellar room with some rats and a bunch of selectable wine racks. Clicking the wine racks will spawn some fairly large groups of monsters, so it's entirely worth skipping unless you're down here for exp.

Continue down the hallway and you will bump in to two named beetles. Xestoblum is one, and I can't remember the other... but they drop very good loot and are worth killing if you are in chest drop range. The beetles are not part of the quest.

Behind the beetles you will find Alexa again, standing in front of a wall that looks like a hallway with a teeny tiny door at the end. Hail her and she says you need to find the study that has a scroll with all the secret passageways mapped on it.

This will trigger one of the wall sconce fixtures as selectable. If you head back towards the wine cellar room, it will be the last light fixture before the last turn to get to the wine room. It opens a door to your left. This will spawn a grou of books when you walk in, but they will not auto aggro if they're grey. The scroll you're looking for is the big one, on your left, on the table.

Exit the room and turn right. Immediately next to the room with the scroll, is a secret hallway, which you can now select. This will bring you to a T intersection where you can go left and right.

First turn right ... and continue going through the secret walls until you find a room with two coffins. When in the room with the coffins, there will be a large obvious door that leads to a room with rats. The passageway you are looking for is before the room with the rats, on the left hand side. Mouse over the left walls as they narrow in some. That'll open up a passageway, go through, then mouse over the walls on the right. A spinny wall will...well, spin and let you through. This is the hallway that leads to the lab, and it's got a few surprises yet. So as you're walking down, there are three traps that'll spring on you, and they do auto aggro, grey or not. The first two are just a bunch of patchwork men, but it can be a problem if they catch a lower level group by surprise, so just be careful of who leads. There are also disembodied gores floating around--caster elementals really. Just gotta watch for them. Past the two traps is one trap that fails to open properly, and another that is filled with Dolls of Nythy. You can ignore the dolls if they're grey. Or if you're creeped out by dolls like me, you can butcher them.

Once you've done all this, run to the door and make note that you can't open it yet. Now you have to run back to Alexa. A bug in the quest will have her appearing in two places at this point though. The Alexa you want is now back near the T intersection behind the first hidden wall you found (after the scroll). If you take a left at the T where you took a right before you will find Alexa again, and she'll be aggro.

Kill her, then Ollix will spawn. He'll monologue for a bit, about how he had been using Alexa as a host and lured you down there and he'll turn aggro and attack. Oddly, you get Ollix's locket after you kill Alexa, and not Ollix, but whatever.

Once you have his locket, go back to the lab door and open it. A named patchwork man named The Juggernaught will be right there. If you can manage to click the book on the desk before he attacks, you can get a quest to kill him. If you end up killing The Juggernaught before you click the book, he WILL respawn on the standard zone respawn timer... so you can come back after you knock of lord Everling.

So down past him is Lord Everling. His name is actually Maltus Everling, and he's a necromancer. Along with him and his necro pet, he has two Patchwork laborers to guard him. He monologues for a bit and then they will all attack at once. The patchwork laborer's are level 36 enchanters, no up arrows, Everling himself is a 36^^. If you're soloing it and have low magic resist...well, be warned.

After entering Lord Everling's room and defeating him, the spinning door back to the hallway to the double-coffin room became unselectable and we were locked inside. I am not sure if this is a bug, or by design... but once you kill him, you will have to Call of YourCityHere to get out.
