[Live] 12.9.09 (GU54) - Interface Changes

The following is a compare between the old default interface (12.8.09) and the new default interface patched today (12.9.09) on the right with changes in red. Use the context & line numbers to help find your way to make the changes needed to your custom interface.

UI Notes:
  • Byzolabane is now properly categorized in the Achievements window.
  • Item tooltips will now give information about gains and losses over currently equipped items.
  • The placeholder detriment icons were removed from the raid window.
  • The raid window font-size was decreased and the overall window is a little more compact.
  • The attune window no longer zones with you.
  • The “select language…” option on the chat window is not available on PvP servers. Players will no longer be misled into thinking they can speak common.

Changed files wise, pretty much all localization code changes. Main exception I saw was the guild window has the rally flag location added (with the corresponding gamedata added).

Thanks for the compares, Dolby =)

Is this actually working?

They should have taken that out of the patch notes. The tooltip comparisons were removed after testers disliked them. (Basically it compared only certain things, which made the actual comparison near useless). I can dig up the dev post about that later.

Gotcha. Kinda useless anyway.

Yeah, as a tooltip it doesn't really do anything for you. What would be useful would be something you could drag an item (or an item link) onto in say your persona window that would then update all your stats (and spells) as though you were wearing that item. Then you could get an actual measure of the effects of something.

Indeed. Stat preview towards your character would be HUGE especially with diminishing returns and stats you're that not sure of.

A quick look at the code and my guess is it's for character customization (eg face, hair, etc.).

we already was able to do this and there was a window for that so can't figure out how it would be NEW.

Dolby 12-09-2009 05:36 PM

The file wasn't in my UI directory yesterday and I play at least 3 - 4hrs a day almost every day and today the flle was. So my compare program picked it up as new.

Drumstix42 12-09-2009 05:52 PM

It's a new window for sure, but we probably don't know what it's for yet.

To do that now, you have to go to char select -- very annoying. My guess is it's a way of doing it without having to go there.

I see someone taking the head paperdoll from it and add it to the player window.

Are these changes going to show up in the auto updater?

For what, EQ2MAP? These are default files that were updated, they're not related to EQ2MAP.
