Updater error

Having the rare problem with the Splash: recv failed error. Something was said about disabling the splash screen correcting this if I am not mistaken, but cannot find how to do this. I use Comodo, am assuming this is the problem. Anyone know how to do this?

Search is at the top and it works fine.

(hint: uninstall Comodo)

gee thanks, won't ask any more questions. Search is how I found out about the Comodo possibility in the first place. So I guess there is no way to run this without deleting Comodo and no such thing as disabling the splash screen.

I did a brief Google search on Comodo having issue with java and didn't really find any. You would think if it had issues with java you would find a crap load of post. Again I didn't do a very in depth search just "Comodo java issues" & "Comodo and java".

So yes; it seems if u wanna use the profit updater you will have to uninstall Comodo.

Thank you.

Depends on perspective - the only time I ever heard of Comodo so far was on these forums with respect to the Java WebStart issue. Check the FAQ on how to disable the splash screen btw., although Kaldran does not recommend that option.

Well, actually I don't see any problems disabling the splash screen at all. Comodo Firewall still _has_ this issue with Java Webstart. I was told you can set it into some autolearning mode to make it work with java, but I don't have the resources to try this at the moment (as I got my grade for my thesis today and will be quite drunk the next few days :D).

If you get this to work, please make sure you post your solution on this forum as well....

Woot grats Kaldran.

Damn they work fast for grading a thesis. Glückwunsch. :)

I updated the FAQ then, making -Xnosplash the recommended solution.

Grats Kaldran. I finally just uninstalled and went back to Zone Alarm and now no problems. Not really what I wanted to do, but works now at least.
