I'm having the predictable difficulties with the new game update which went live today (8-18-2010). My EQ2 Maps do appear when I hit my "M" key, but I can not use the Search function to look up any POIs. The POI list no longer appears. All the POIs on the map do appear in the zone, and a mouse-over generates a description of the POI. Clicking on the map will place an "X" at that point, and a light trail may appear, but I'm not certain that function works either.

The light trail function didn't work in the EQ2 Extended test server when I tried to use it there. I installed EQ2 Maps in the correct directory and was able to get the map interface to open in game, but it was the first place I noticed this problem. I'm running Windows XP on a dual core Intel processor with lots of RAM and plenty of hard drive space, along with nVidia GeForce 8800 video card. I don't think the video card is the issue, nor the memory. Something in the game UI is preventing EQ2 Maps from being fully functional. When I use the /loadui command to choose the Blue UI interface, I lose EQ2 Maps altogether, and am stuck with the game map system, which has almost no POI's except for oversized yellow dots for major landmarks. (Totally unacceptable!) I hope you folks can figure this out and do something that will make EQ2 Maps work in game as it should again. I really miss my EQ2 Maps! I'm not able to save my personalized UI or recall it either, so that's another issue that may affect how EQ2 Maps are functioning.

I downloaded the new map for eq2 1.2.4 and in game I have no quest markers that show me where to find the quest updates, no way to click on quest to get a way point to quest or npcs (it only shows points of interest). I also cannot resize either mini or main map.

On the mini map I have all of the same above listed problems. The map only allows me to see the area I am currently in,( it does follow me), but I cannot see the entire zone to look ahead for quest or for group members. I cannot slide the mini map using the mouse to scan the area. When I try to use the mouse on the mini map to move it to scan beyond the point my character is located on the mini-map, it moves the entire mini map on my screen.


I have windows xp. Both eq2 and the map was a fresh load on a new computer with no older versions of either map or game prior to download.

I am not computer savy so any help would be appreciated that could assist me to fix my problem.

also i saw no eq2.ini file either before or after download. One of the suggestions was to delete and reinstall. I looked for the eq2.ini file that should have been created by the program but there is no such file.
My map is downloaded to:
EverQuest 2
C:\Program Files\Sony\everquest II

auto launch
C:\Program Files\Sony\Everquest 2.exe

I have only points of interest, no quest or quest way points, no interaction at all with map and quest log to choose a waypoint to quest.

All of my driver files have been corrupted. The only thing that I added to my gaming computer was eq2 and the map from here. My gaming computer never serfs the web I have another computer that I do that on. So there is some big problem going on with this map to cause a corruption in all of my drivers. Now I have to take my computer to the shop for repair. This map program is not loading properly and it caused me major problems. For over 6 years I have used the maps beginning with Tacco Man's original map and never once did I have a problem. I have been away from eq2 for a year, get a new computer, download fresh install of eq2 and then come here for the map and now I have driver corruptions.

Please look into your program and find the bugs that could cause damage. I know this is a free map system and I thank you for that but there is a problem here with installation. Tacco Man's maps were simple to download. The files went into the proper location without any problems. I posted here yesterday and to date no one has responded to my plea for help. Is this site no longer monitered for problems and responded to anymore?

I am also having the same problem. I am new to windows 7, as I just got this new laptop. It took me forever to figure out how to find hidden folders so i could find the ProgramData folder. I installed the maps, and it did not work in game. So I asked a fellow guildy who also uses windows 7, what folder he installed his into. He told me his was in ProgramData/SonyOnlineEntertainment/Installed/Everquest2/UI ... so I tried this, and still nothing. I am running it as Admin, and I also told it to re-download all of the maps. Still nothing. Please help.

I love this program, and questing without it, just seems wrong LOL

I think the program have some trouble with creating files under the folder "Program Files (x86)". Just install it anywhere else e.g. C:\EQ2MAP Updater\

This mod has serious problems trying to find the eq2.exe even though it knows where its located. It just prompts the error in a box, there was an error.

eq2maps has been downloaded 1.17+ million times. This is a simply amazing # considering its a player developed program and is funded by monetary "tips" Has SOE offered you guys a job?

p.s. I have a project for you, lets test your coding skills. Project description: Implement a google earth type "fly over & pin point" poi complete with 3-D terrain mapping.

I am trying to download a group window UI and when I install following the instructions posted, EQ2 maps stops working.

Do I put the new UI files in the EQ2 maps folder and leave the eq2.ini file stating use the EQ2 Maps ui folder?

If not please give instructions how I get EQ2 Maps to work with custom ui's.

Btw, I am using the ugly monster Vista 64 Ultimate

I cannot get this to install. I have the game from download and when it tries to install it serches for the Everquest2.exe which does not exist for some odd reason. Please help me!

Try right clicking and selecting "run as administrator" and see if that makes a difference.

I was tring to us the auto maper and I keep fetting errors and it will not update my maps.

I just want to say thank you very much. I have been gone for all most a year and remember how much I did not like the map system in EQ2. I used to use your EQ2map addon and I'm very happy to see your still keeping the program uptodate. Please keep up the good work.

Ok kid the people here are donating their time for free, to make these programs. So PRO tip here, if you don't like it write your own if you can't because your too lazy or maybe just a bit slow (I'm going with slow after reading your post) then don't complain about what other people are doing for you for free. Also keep in mind this piece of crap as you call it, is one of the most downloaded UI's and everybody else seemed to have no issues figuring it out, there is other software out there that people have learned to use PRO tip buddy use spell check if your incapable of using a dictionary.
